Bed Rest: Stay Positive

Last week I was sitting on our little office rolling chair, leaving our friend Julianne a voicemail (we recently did some work for her) when in the middle of the voicemail the chair completely flew out from under me and I landed super awkwardly on my back/side. The funny part is that I was more worried about the embarrassing voicemail than my body when it happened! I was like “Oh, I totally just dropped something, anyway call me back!” Hahah! I got up and could feel the baby moving, so I really wasn’t too concerned about it. Brad and I actually laughed our heads off about it! Anyway a few days went by and I felt completely fine – a swollen ankle was all. Then four days later (We were coming home from our weekly Bachelor sesh at my Mom’s…) I was getting out of the car and could hardly stand up because I got hit with a really painful contraction! I was completely hunched over, and Brad somehow helped me get inside and onto some pillows on the floor. At first I wasn’t too alarmed because my doctor said that this might happen, and if it does I just need to lay down with a glass of water… Well, 30 minutes went by and this gnarly contraction was only getting worse! So off we flew to the hospital (at midnight) and my teeth were chattering because I was in so much pain. I seriously thought, “Oh my gosh, this is it. The baby is going to come early.” — I will never forget how sweet Brad was through it all… Wheeling me around, reminding me to breathe, and reassuring me that everything will be okay. We ended up staying there till 4am, and thankfully all the tests they did on the baby came back healthy. The only downside is that I’ve been put on bed rest, so that my torn ligaments from my fall don’t cause anymore scary pre-term contractions. If you know me, I am a total busy body & being on bed rest has gotten old real fast. I’m not complaining because I know many women have it farrr worse that me, thats why I want to share the things currently keeping me positive on bed rest. πŸ™‚
-Taking baths
-Long phone calls
-Daydreaming about baby πŸ˜‰
-Snacking on yummy treats & drinks
-Opening the windows & letting the sun shine
-Starting a new project: I’m taking up sewing again! << This also helps me feel productive
-Soaking in my last moments of quiet – I know it will be a long time (if ever) till I do this again!

Glad you are okay and that your little one is staying put for now. Bed rest is tough, and even tougher when you're used to always being on the go. My last two put me on total bed rest at 28 weeks . . . I love your positive attitude! Hang in there . . . you will be wishing for a quiet moment and rest soon enough. Can't wait to hear the news when this little one makes his/her entrance.
p.s. my Jenna follows you like a hawk . . . she absolutely loves you and Brad!
